Boulder Veterinary Hospital's Veterinarians

Lacey Jones, DVM

Growing up in Montana, Dr. Lacey Jones spent her free time outdoors fishing, shooting, hiking, and working with cattle and horses. During her first year of veterinary school she was selected for a competitive Army Medical Scholarship in order to serve her country and gain leadership skills. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2010 and has had a wide variety of experience serving as a Captain in the Army and private practice since then.

In 2012, Dr. Jones volunteered to deploy to Afghanistan as the leader of a Veterinary Service Support Team in support of operation Enduring Freedom. Dr. Jones and her team provided complete medical and surgical care for more than 370 Military, NATO and contract working dogs in the area as well as food inspection support. She performed root canals and her dental procedures as well as frequent orthopedic, ophthalmology exams and emergency care. While in Afghanistan she received the Military Outstanding Volunteer Service Medal for her work in Operation Outreach, an organization that focuses on helping the local community by making fuel donuts and assembling school supply kits for children.

After Afghanistan, Dr. Jones went into Civil Affairs and helped build international relations, and stability in Nepal by teaching farmers and veterinarians about bio-security, animal husbandry and agriculture. She received two letters of appreciation from US Ambassador to Nepal Bodde.

Dr. Jones was honorably discharged from the Army in 2014 in order to help build a small animal practice owned by a colleague and friend of hers from vet school. She was one of two full time doctors in an expanding general practice focusing on general medicine and surgery. She moved to Boulder in the summer of 2017, where she began working with Boulder Veterinary Hospital as the new Medical Director.

In her free time, Dr. Jones enjoys rock climbing, mountaineering, mountain biking and Ultimate Frisbee. Her professional areas of interest include: client communication, orthopedic examinations, dermatology, and radiology.

 Amanda Burdette, DVM

Dr. Amanda Burdette grew up in New York riding horses and dreaming of becoming a veterinarian.  However, while studying at Colgate University, she decided that while there would always be pets in her life, so she would try to make the world a better place through a different route. Amanda worked to protect ranch and farmland in Washington, D.C. for a few years before moving to Colorado in 1999.

While working for the American Humane Association, Amanda was reminded of her dreams of veterinary medicine and of all the animals in the world who need care. She studied for two years at CU Boulder, and received her DVM from Colorado State University's College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences in 2008.

Amanda is thrilled to join the wonderful team at Boulder Veterinary Hospital. Outside of work, she enjoys time with her amazing husband and two beautiful children, and our cats and dog. In her free time she loves baking and cooking, trail running, yoga, or just enjoying the amazing Colorado life.
